I like to meet other musicians, producers, and music industry professionals just for the sake of talking to them. I don’t follow a plan or strategy when I meet someone, I’m just me. And if someone likes me, we get into a deeper conversation.
Apart from meeting people in person, I get to know people online. Even though this seems weird to some people (especially the generation 40+), I really like to connect with people all over the world.
From these connections, I got so much value in the past decade. From talking about interesting stuff to collaborating for productions or radio shows or events to finding friends.
One of these friends is James. He paid me a visit yesterday.
I’m living in Belgium at the German border and he’s from Vermont, USA. We met in an online community and started frequently talking about music, business, and life. Meanwhile, we chat weekly and talk about our vision, mission, and goals. He helped me with a lot of things already, and I’m sure this friendship will grow even more.
Why I’m telling you all this is because I believe in the power of human relationships.
No matter where you are, you can find the right people for your mission. Not only in your local area but also online.
Dive into conversations with other musicians. Don’t force anything. Be yourself. Enjoy it. You never know how a connection might turn out.
I’m happy that I already found a lot of great people all over the world. You are one of them 🙂 What’s the best experience you had so far with other people in the music industry?
