Better words = more fans?

What do you think sounds better?

“Join our mailing list”

“Join the movement”

I had this conversation with an artist. People don’t want to subscribe to “mailing lists”. Even though they read emails every day. The terms “mailing list” or “newsletter” scare people. So a slight change of words can optimize the outcome.

Also, how do you want to call your fans – and more importantly – how do you want your fans to identify themselves?

(Not the best examples, I know)

If people can relate to something unique, they will become members of a tribe. Do not wait for your fans to invent a name. You can always change it later.

Keep these two things in mind for marketing – whether on your website, videos, emails, interviews, or live shows.

How do you name your fans?
